Travel Tips LUGGAGE It is usual with most train journeys to take on board only a small travelling or ‘overnight bag’ as your piece of luggage. Weigh restrictions may vary. The remainder of your luggage is stored on board for the rest of your journey, due to cabin space constraints. It is therefore recommended guests take all requirements for their journey with them in their cabin and check-in all other luggage. Note: Checked-in luggage cannot normally be accessed during the journey. ROCKY MOUNTAINEER Each carriage has its own member of staff whose job it is to advise you on all aspects of your trip and what to look out for, as well as serve you your meals on board. All food and drink is included in the price. FOOD AND DRINK Most of the train trips shown include meals and drinks on board, with a chef on board who prepares the food during the journey. (except very short journeys). HEALTH ISSUES It is advisable to check with your doctor before your journey as to any tablets or inoculations which may be required prior to visiting whichever country your train journey takes place in. SOUTH AFRICA – ROVOS RAIL A Medical Practitioner, Hair Stylist & Historian accompany the train at various stages. Visas must be purchased and paid for prior to departure for Africa. Visas may be required for Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, and should be acquired prior to arrival. Please check with the relevant embassies for visa requirements. Passengers are requested to have yellow fever inoculations before commencing the journey, and are advised to take anti-malarial precautions as might be prescribed before commencing the journey. Trip cancellation insurance is strongly advised. |
