Guests can choose from an elegant twin or single sleeper cabin. Twin Cabins feature 3 seater lounge converting to upper and lower sleeping berths plus ensuite facilities with toilet, washbasin and shower. Single Cabins feature a lounge chair converting to single sleeping berth with shower and toilet facilities located at the end of each carriage.

Dining Gold Kangaroo Service guests travelling aboard The Ghan dine in a beautifully decorated Restaurant Car. All meals are included in the Gold Kangaroo Service fare. The enjoyment of fine food and wine combined with views across this vast, beautiful continent is an unrivalled experience.
THE LOUNGE
RED KANGAROO SERVICE Red Kangaroo Service - Comfortable twin share cabin comprising two facing lounge chairs converting to sleeping berths at night, private washing facilities in cabin 3 pin/240 volt power point, wardrobe, vanity mirror, reading light, foldaway table, toilet and shower facilities at the end of each carriage.

stylish, self-contained carriages. The Chairman's Carriage is the pride
of Great Southern Railway's fleet. These are The Chairman’s Carriage, The Prince of Wales Carriage, Governors Lounge and Sir John Forrest Carriage. All have their own exclusivity of design, décor, and facilities and are for that ‘extra special grandeur’ to remember.
THE CHAIRMAN’S CARRIAGE FEATURES
Accommodates up to 8 guests. 2 double bedrooms sharing 2-way bathroom and 2 Twin Cabins with adjacent bathroom facilities. Generous lounge with CD player, DVD and video entertainment. Private dining room. Fully equipped kitchen. Guests dine in the Gold Kangaroo Restaurant at no extra cost. Dine in The Chairman's Car dining room with meals prepared by your own dedicated chef (extra cost). Private charters can be arranged from Sydney, Adelaide or Perth.
PRINCE OF WALES CARRIAGE
Features - Accommodates up to 10 guests. 4 Twin Cabins and 2 large single cabins which comprise to form the Mountbatten Suite. Lounge featuring ornate wood carvings. Full size main bathroom. GOVERNOR'S LOUNGE The Governor's Lounge is the sister carriage to the Prince of Wales Carriage. This timber carriage was constructed in 1917 for the official opening of the Trans Australian Railway. Features - Spacious lounge areas with comfortable arm chairs and a piano. Large picture windows. 2 televisions. 2 mini-bar fridges and tea & coffee making facilities. Private charters can be arranged between Adelaide or Perth.
SIR JOHN FORREST CARRIAGE
Features - Accommodates up to 6 guests. 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. 2 Twin Cabins with en-suite facilities. Additional bathroom. Kitchenette/ bar and generous lounge area. The adventure that spans Australia. The Indian Pacific is the last
remaining trans-continental train journey. This amazing train traverses
Australia from cost to coast, between the sparkling waters of the
Pacific and the Indian Oceans, a distance of 4352 kilometres. See unique
landscapes unfold and spot a fascinating array of wildlife from the
comfort of the lounge or your cabin.
No other journey in the world crosses so many different terrains in one
country, from the spectacular Blue Mountains, through the famous green
and gold Sun Belt of Australia, historic Broken Hill, past Australia’s
first inland Outposts and mining towns, through the Red outback and
across the worlds longest length of straight railway track, 478
kilometres through the stark and desolate Nullarbor Plain.
Get up close and see the sights of some of our most famous outback towns
when you enjoy an optional off-train sightseeing tour. The great train
offers these tours during scheduled stops at Broken Hill, Adelaide and
gold rich Kalgoorlie. A remote outpost on the Nullarbor Plain called
Cook presents a further opportunity to stretch your legs.

All along the Indian Pacific route, keep an eye out for a sighting of
the magnificent Australian wedge tailed eagle, the symbol of this great
train. Its massive wingspan of up to two metres will make it easy to
spot in a clear desert sky.
Cabins are fully serviced by carriage attendants and feature 3 pin/240
volt power point, wardrobe, full length mirror, reading light, foldaway
table. Complimentary toiletries and bath towels are provided in all Gold
Kangaroo Sleeper Cabins. Complimentary toiletry bags and onboard
magazine provided in all Gold Kangaroo Service cabins. Guests also
receive a Certificate of Travel and 'collector' stick pin upon
disembarkation.

Ideal for guests seeking a little extra style, space and comfort. The
Deluxe Cabin is twice the size of a Gold Kangaroo Twin Cabin and offers
a small double bed plus additional fold down single bed. Extra features
include a private lounge area with table, arm chairs, a dvd player plus
a selection of titles, dressing gown, slippers, Deluxe compendium,
Deluxe toiletries, complimentary Haigh's chocolates, fruit bowl, plunger
coffee, a bar-fridge stocked with complimentary refreshments, reserved
seating at dinner or optional room service for meals and a complimentary
bottle of wine with dinner. Availability is limited so advance bookings
are essential.
The ever-changing menus feature a blend of Australian and International
cuisine, cooked to perfection by on-board chefs. Quality wines and
beverages are available for purchase. Vegetarian, children’s, and some
special dietary meals can be accommodated - please request these when
you make your booking. Note: breakfast packs will be delivered to cabins
on some services to cater for early morning destination arrivals and
off-train tour requirements. Savour the sights, the wines and dine in a
beautiful Restaurant Car. All meals are included in the Gold Kangaroo
Service fare.
The relaxed setting of the Gold Kangaroo Lounge offers an excellent
place to socialise and meet fellow travellers from all corners of the
world. The Lounge has a licensed bar. Relax, socialise with new found
friends, or sit back and enjoy the passing parade of Australian
landscapes.
Red Kangaroo Diner and Buffet - The Red Kangaroo Diner offers affordable
and tasty light meals, snacks and drinks for purchase. Limited special
dietary light meals are available (please request when you make your
booking). The Diner is fully licensed. Snacks and light meals are also
available for purchase throughout the day from the licensed Buffet Car.


The historic Prince of Wales Carriage was originally built in 1919 to
accommodate a royal visit from Edward, Prince of Wales. This beautifully
crafted timber carriage was recently refurbished and maintains many
original features, including high ceilings of Wunderlich pressed metal
and cathedral glass doors.
The Sir John Forrest Carriage is named after the explorer made famous
for the first crossing of Western Australia by land in 1870. Follow in
his footsteps across the Nullarbor Plain, travelling in the comfort of
this modern carriage.
