DAY 1 TO MOSCOW

Fly from London Heathrow to Moscow with British Airways. Transfer to the Metropol Hotel or similar, for 1 night. Welcome reception in St Basil’s Cathedral and dinner. (D)

DAY 2 MOSCOW

Full day tour of Moscow. In the evening, we board the Trans-Siberian Express. Accommodation is in Gold or Heritage class cabins. Gold class cabins are the largest and feature en suite bathrooms with underfloor heating, DVD/audio systems and climate control. Heritage cabins have two lower berth beds that convert to daytime seating. Individual shower/changing rooms are in the Shower Car. The train also features a Lounge/Bar Car and a Restaurant Car, which serves local delicacies and international cuisine. (B, L, D)

DAY 3 YAROSLAVL

Arrive in Yaroslavl on the banks of the Volga River. Visit the 12th century “Monastery of the Transfiguration”. (B, L, D)

DAY 4 YEKATETINBURG

Cross the Europe-Asia divide and arrive in Yekaterinburg, capital of the Urals. Visits include the Romanov execution site. (B, L, D)

DAY 5 NOVOSIBIRSK

In Novosibirsk you can see the Opera House and Lenin Square. (B, L, D)

DAY 7 IRKUTSK

Morning arrival in Irkutsk in Siberia. See the major sights. (B, L, D)

DAY 8 LAKE BAIKAL

We pass by Lake Baikal, the world’s largest freshwater lake. We visit Listvyanka, a small Baikal village. Evening departure. (B, L, D)

DAY 9 ULAN UDE

Morning arrival in Ulan Ude, capital of the Buryat Republic. We take a tour and visit the Village of Old Believers. (B, L, D)

DAY 10 ULAN BAATAR

Morning arrival in Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia. Visit the National History Museum and have lunch in a Ger (Yurt) restaurant. Optional visit to Gorkhi-Terelj National Park. (B, L, D)

DAY 11 ON BOARD

Travel back into Russia, spending the day relaxing on the train and simply watching the scenery go by. (B, L, D)

DAY 12 ON BOARD

At leisure. Siberia at its most remote and beautiful unfolds as we enter the region of permafrost. (B, L, D)

DAY 13 ON BOARD

At leisure. The most easterly point of the journey is reached passing through Khabarovsk, where the River Amur is crossed. (B, L, D)

DAY 14 VLADIVOSTOK

Morning arrival. Take a tour of this once ‘closed’ Russian town. Transfer to the Hotel Hyundai for an overnight stay and a farewell dinner. (B, L, D)

DAY 15 TO LONDON

Transfer to the airport and fly to London via Moscow. (B)
