The Canadian: Route Map

TORONTO TO VANCOUVER

All Aboard! Experience the romance of the rails and spectacular scenery while relaxing in the comfort and elegance of restored 1950's art deco surroundings on the Canadian.

Canadian: Toronto There is something very special about taking the train in Canada. It was the railway that linked this vast country together and the train is very close to the essence of Canada.

Vancouver to Toronto or vice versa - with all of Canada's diversity in between - this is the route of the classic Transcontinental train, the Canadian, a handsome stainless steel re-creation of a great era of train travel. Departing three times per week from Vancouver and Toronto, the Canadian travels through the scenic northern lakelands of Ontario, across the western prairies, through the dramatic Rocky Mountains and on to the Pacific Coast.

Prices for this train journey start from £425 but we would weave this into a more detailed itinerary with stopovers and to include flight prices to make a memorable holiday.

This train journey is featured on our page labelled ‘Canada – Tailor Made Trips’. Prices start from 13 days from £2,155.

Canadian: Polar Bears Travelling across Canada from Toronto to Vancouver on the newly refurbished Canadian will take you a comfortable three days or so and encompasses nearly every type of scenery that the country has to offer. Winnipeg is the gateway to the north and the land of the Polar Bear and Hudson Bay and you could combine your rail journey with a 5 night Polar Bear Watching Tour to Churchill, Manitoba and will get you into viewing range before you know it.

Candian The Canadian's main stops include Sudbury, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Jasper and Kamloops. Seats only are available in second (economy) class while all bedroom and couchette accommodation is now in the first class, which is the "Silver & Blue" section of the train, which also includes all meals during the journey.

Between Sudbury Junction and Winnipeg, you can get off anywhere you want, even where there is no scheduled stop! How? Simply by requesting a ‘special stop!’ This service is specially designed for outdoor enthusiasts who wish to get off in a "wilder" environment.
